The athlete environment is a key component of the Fit4Football programme, consisting of several key areas, encapsulating the physical environment (weather, pitch and surfaces, facilities and equipment) and the psychosocial (social behaviour) environment (the rules of the game and fair play, side-line and on-pitch behaviour, safeguarding children, health, safety and wellbeing, respect and responsibility, alcohol and drugs and first aid). These are all important elements in developing players, reducing injury risks and improving player performances through focusing on athlete/player wellbeing at every level.
Athlete Environment Includes:
- Player loading, overloading and welfare
- Tournament guidelines
- Health, safety and wellbeing for football in New Zealand
- Respect, responsibility and integrity
