smart start aeds

New Zealand Football has a vision for all football clubs throughout New Zealand to have an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). With the support of ACC SportSmart and F-Marc are able to support our New Zealand Football-affiliated clubs and federations with the Smart Start – AEDs in Clubs Programme, which includes comprehensive resources, educational and policy support.

By the end of 2018 we aim to have provided 180 fully funded AED units to football clubs across the country, and to assist those clubs (and other interested parties) in developing a plan to manage sudden cardiac arrest along with other significant medical emergencies.

Fit4football aims to help our players stay injury free and play to the best of their ability

Who qualifies for a Smart Start AED?

New Zealand Football Quality Club Mark (QCM) clubs that meet and hold the current revised QCM standards, plus our Stirling Sports Premiership clubs, are eligible to receive a fully-funded Smart Start AED unit and programme in 2016.

All other New Zealand Football-affiliated clubs throughout the country that currently do not meet the revised QCM criteria are able to purchase a discounted and subsidised AED unit through Zoll International with a referral from New Zealand Football (please email megan.crockett@nzfootball.co.nz for this)
